Julia Aijkens has had diverse work experience in various industries. Starting in 2013, they interned at Deprag Schulz Gmbh U. Co. In 2015, they worked as a Peer Advisor and Credit Processor at UT International Engineering Education. Julia then had an internship at Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. as an Electrical Engineering Intern in 2019. Simultaneously, they also worked as a Graduate Lighting Designer at BuroHappold Engineering. In 2021, they became a Lighting Designer at Buro Happold before transitioning to their current role as a Specification Sales at Electric Lighting Agencies in 2022. Alongside their professional career, Julia also gained experience as a Barista at Starbucks and as an Architectural Lighting Design Intern at Luma Lighting Design.

Julia Aijkens has a comprehensive education history. Julia earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Architectural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin from 2014 to 2019. During their time at the university, they also pursued a McCombs Business Minor. Additionally, they participated in semester exchange programs at Delft University of Technology in 2018 and The University of Edinburgh in 2017. Julia also had the opportunity to study abroad in London in 2017 through the Emerging Technologies Study Abroad program. Furthermore, they participated in an Architectural Design and Graphics Study Abroad program in Dubai and Barcelona in 2015. Most recently, Julia Aijkens attended the KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 2020 to 2021, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Architectural Lighting Design.
