Marie-José Nadeau

Marie-José Nadeau is Honorary Chairman of the World Energy Council.

She was elected Chairman of the Officers Council (Board of Directors) of the World Energy Council in 2013 for a three-year term. During her tenure, she travelled the world, outreaching to the organization’s 100 National member Committees and speaking on global energy issues.

Previously, she served as Secretary General and Executive Vice- President, Corporate Affairs at Hydro-Québec, Canada’s largest electric utility, where she was a key player in the leadership team for over 20 years.

A trained lawyer, she holds a bachelor’s a well as master’s degrees in Law from the University of Ottawa.

An experienced Director, she currently is on the Board of ENGIE a multinational energy company based in Paris (France) and chairs the Audit Committee and is a member of the Strategy, Investment and Technology Committee; she is also a director of TRANS MOUNTAIN, a Canadian corporation based in Calgary (Alberta) and active in the operation and development of a network of pipelines in Western Canada and on the Pacific Coast; she chairs the Human Resources, Nominating and Governance Committee.

She is the outgoing Chairman EPRI’S Advisory Council and has served on the boards of Concordia University, Canadian Electricity Association, Energy Council of Canada, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Churchill Falls and Labrador Corporation and Metro.

She was appointed Member of the Order of Canada in recognition for her support to the advancement of women in the energy sector.
