Ian Smyth

Ian Smyth serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Electricity North West, where responsibilities include ensuring a safe, low-cost, and secure electricity supply for communities in the North West of England. Smyth also holds the position of Governor and Trustee at The Manchester Metropolitan University and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee. Previous roles include Director of UK Power Networks Services, Managing Director at Navigant, and Partner at Lane Clark & Peacock, with extensive experience in the energy, utilities, and regulated industries sectors. Smyth's academic background includes a PhD student/research assistant role at the University of Exeter, an MSc in Cognitive Science & Artificial Intelligence from the University of Birmingham, and a BA(Hons) in Independent Study from The Manchester Metropolitan University.
