Kellie King began their work experience in 2015 as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Ohio University, where they worked in Dr. Carroll's lab on projects such as screening and analyzing a small RNA mutant library in Staphylococcus aureus, analyzing the secreted protein profile of a sRNA mutant, and investigating the role of PrsA, a peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase to virulence in S. aureus. Kellie attended many regional, national, and international conferences and was awarded various travel, poster and oral presentation awards. In 2017, they were a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where they completed research and won an award while presenting their work completed in Dr. Wohleb's lab. Her project investigated the role of glucocorticoid signaling in microglia alterations following chronic unpredictable stress. In 2018, they began working at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant. Finally, in 2022, they began working at ELEGEN as a Senior Research Associate.
Kellie King attended Ohio University from 2014 to 2018, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology. Kellie then went on to Virginia Tech, where they obtained a Master of Science in Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences in 2021.
