Rita Morgado da Silva has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Rita started their career as a Summer Intern at Volkswagen Autoeuropa in 2009 and then worked as a Placement Student at Pfizer in 2010. Rita further pursued their studies and completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey, where they also worked as a Summer Placement Student. During their time at the university, they conducted research on advanced signal processing techniques and won a research bursary for their project.

After graduating in 2013, Rita joined Elekta as a Mechanical Engineer and was involved in the Research and Development of Radiotherapy Technologies, particularly in the development of a combined linear accelerator and MRI system known as Unity. Rita worked in this role until 2017, after which they were promoted to the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer. In this role, they continued to contribute to the development of Unity and other projects until December 2019.

Rita's next role at Elekta was as a Senior Systems Engineer, where they took ownership of the definition, performance, interfaces, and risk analysis of the Beam Generation subsystem for the Unity MR Linac and Next Generation solutions. Rita was responsible for the technical domain within the solution, defining quality criteria and requirements based on product requirements.

In May 2021, Rita took on the role of Lead Systems Engineer for the Beam Generation Unity MRLinac, where they continued their responsibilities in system design and analysis. Rita then transitioned to the role of Global Product Sustainability Lead for Linac Solutions at Elekta, where they played a key role in the company-wide Science Based Targets Initiative roll-out and vision development.
