Derek Franklin, PhD, currently serves as Associate Director and Medical Science Liaison in Oncology at Eli Lilly and Company since September 2025. Prior experience includes roles at Shattuck Labs from January 2022 to September 2025, where Derek held positions as Principal Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Scientist III. Derek worked as a Scientist at TCRCure Biopharma Corp. from August 2020 to January 2022 and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from April 2018 to August 2020. Additional experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship in Radiation Oncology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine from August 2011 to March 2018, where focus was on ribosomal protein alterations in mice and p53 metabolic regulation during graduate studies. Early in the career, Derek was an Undergraduate Researcher at UNC School of Medicine's Pharmacology Department and a Lab Technician at Environmental Inks and Coatings Inc. Derek holds a PhD in Pharmacology from UNC School of Medicine and a BS in Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
