Scott Vafai

Scott Vafai is a seasoned professional in the biopharmaceutical industry with extensive expertise in clinical development, translational medicine, and innovations targeting chronic diseases. Currently serving as Vice President - Verve Therapeutics CMO at Eli Lilly and Company since October 2025, Vafai previously held key roles including Senior Vice President of Clinical Development at Verve Therapeutics, where leadership was exercised over clinical operations and gene editing initiatives for cardiovascular diseases. Vafai co-founded Metavention, Inc., focusing on novel device-based treatments for diabetic patients and is a co-inventor on several related patents. Prior experience includes pivotal positions at Sanofi and the Broad Institute, emphasizing gene therapy and mitochondrial therapeutics.
