Viren Sarin is a retired distinguished research fellow at Eli Lilly & Co, where they concluded a prolific career in April 2017 after over 34 years in R&D leadership within the biopharmaceutical industry. During their time at Eli Lilly, Viren championed the development of several successful drugs, including Forteo and Byetta, while also guiding global regulatory strategies and leading product development projects from early stages through to approval. Prior to Eli Lilly, Viren served as a research fellow at Abbott Laboratories, where they directed early to late-stage drug development activities. Viren earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the City University of New York and conducted postdoctoral research at The Rockefeller University.
