Head Of EU Market And Offshore at Elia Group

Benjamin Genêt has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Benjamin has been working at Elia since 2009, where they currently hold the position of Head of EU market and offshore. In this role, they are responsible for the integration of the electricity market in the EU and the implementation of guidelines related to capacity allocation and congestion management.

Prior to this, Benjamin has held several managerial positions at Elia, including Manager EU market integration and Manager EU balancing market. In these roles, they were involved in various European projects and associations related to electricity balancing and ancillary services. Benjamin also played a key role in the advocacy and implementation of clean energy policies and the development of HVDC interconnections.

In addition to their work at Elia, Benjamin has also worked as a Lecturer at Université libre de Bruxelles since 2010 and previously served as a Researcher and teaching assistant at Université Libre de Bruxelles from 2004 to 2009.

Benjamin Genêt obtained a PhD in Power Systems from Université libre de Bruxelles in 2009. Benjamin'sdoctoral research focused on monitoring methods and load modeling to enhance voltage stability assessment efficiency. Prior to that, they completed an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Université libre de Bruxelles, which they earned in 2004.
