Elizabeth Fry Charity
Elizabeth Fry Charity. Supporting women to make positive changes in their lives. Welcome to our charity, where we manage the Elizabeth Fry House – a Ministry of Justice approved premises for women in Reading. With 24 beds available, Elizabeth Fry House serves as a crucial haven for women transitioning from prison, who are assessed as posing a medium to very high risk of causing serious harm to others. Elizabeth Fry House is a trauma informed environment, where women can access holistic support from a skilled and experienced staff team. Whilst women come to us because of their own involvement in the criminal justice system, we recognise they have experienced trauma, violence and abuse from others. First and foremost we want Elizabeth Fry House to be a safe place for all women. A placement at Elizabeth Fry House offers more than just accommodation; it provides a comprehensive support system. Through fundraising we provide additional support to women at Elizabeth Fry House. These include a welcome pack, including Primark Vouchers, Move-On packages as well as access to the following speacialist services: Housing Worker Substance Misuse Worker Outreach Worker Psychotherapeutic Support Yoga sessions Therapeutic Gardening sessions Our structured regime of interventions includes both group sessions and one-to-one support. These initiatives are designed to help residents address the underlying issues that led to their previous offending and empower them to initiate positive changes in their lives. Our Vision is to be an excellent provider of accommodation and support for women in the criminal justice system. We believe: Everyone is capable of change Everyone should be listened to, and treated with respect Everyone deserves to live and work in a safe environment Everyone should be treated fairly and consistently
