Michael Swanson is an accomplished academic and theater director with extensive experience in the performing arts. Currently serving as Associate Professor of Theatre and Director of Theatre and Dance at Elizabethtown College since July 2007, Michael has also directed notable productions at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center, including "Death of a Salesman," "Brighton Beach Memoirs," and "Equus." Additional directing credits include "The Lion in Winter" at Oyster Mill Playhouse and a tenure as Theatre Director at Fresno City College. Michael has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor at The University of Arizona and Western Illinois University, and Professor and Chair of the Fine Arts Department at Franklin College. With a Ph.D. in Theatre from The Ohio State University, an MFA in Directing from Wayne State University, and a BA in Theatre and English from Hamline University, Michael’s educational background supports a robust career in theater education and direction.
