Steinar Birgisson

Steinar Birgisson has extensive experience in materials chemistry and process engineering, currently serving as Process Owner at Elkem ASA since June 2018, focusing on FeSi furnace operations. Prior to this role, Steinar worked at Teknologisk Institut as Lab Manager and Quality Assurance Specialist, consulting on projects in the oil and gas sector. Academic endeavors include a Postdoc and PhD Fellowship at Aarhus University, where research centered on the relationship between structure, synthesis, and properties of materials for lithium and sodium ion batteries. In earlier roles, Steinar contributed as a Research Scientist at Carbon Recycling International, where efforts included the commissioning of a quality control system for the first commercial renewable methanol plant. Steinar holds a PhD and an MS in Chemical Engineering from Aarhus University, as well as a BS in Chemistry from Háskóli Íslands.
