Will Ayers has over 20 years of work experience in the electrical engineering field. In 1996, they began their career as a Plant I & E Tech at FGMI/Morrison Knudsen at Fort Knox Mine. In 2000, they took on the role of Project Engineer at General Electric Automation Services, where they were involved in the design, manufacture, and installation of propulsion and alarm systems. In 2004, they joined Washington State Ferries (WSF) as an Electrical Engineer, where they worked in support of the Chief Naval Architect in scoping, specifying, and designing all phases of marine electrical systems. In 2012, they established their own business, Ayers Electrical Engineering, providing marine electrical engineering services. Finally, in 2016, they became the Chief Electrical Engineer at Elliott Bay Design Group, where they led a team to develop a comprehensive hybrid feasibility study for Washington State Ferries (WSF) and their largest Jumbo Mark II Class.

Will Ayers earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1995. Will also holds a Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical) certification from Louisiana, obtained in October 2021, and is in the process of obtaining similar certifications from Washington State, Alaska, and Texas.
