Head Of Luxemburg Office, of Deal Coordination and SPV Governance at Elliott Management

Jean-Marc McLean is the Head of the Luxembourg Office and Co-head of Deal Coordination and SPV Governance for Elliott Investment Management, a role he has held since 2020. Previously in his career, he has held directorship and managerial positions at many successful global organisations, including Intertrust, Vistra, Symmetra Design and GE Capital, with international experience spanning the fields of accounting, management and finance.

At Elliott, he oversees and manages European business operations and private equity deals. Before his current role, he worked as a Business Unit Director in the real estate investments and structured financing field across North America at Intertrust Group, overseeing AUM worth over $8.5bn and being responsible for risk management, compliance and governance via alternative and special purpose investment vehicles. At Vistra, he worked within a diverse multi-cultural workplace environment to optimise offshore and onshore solutions for multinational corporations, HNWIs and institutional investors operating in the global marketplace. Under his leadership, the company supported several Fortune500 multinational corporations in their successful global expansion across Asia, America and Oceania. Prior to moving to Luxembourg, Jean-Marc McLean was a Business Operations and Finance Manager for Symmetra Design in Washington DC, maximising the company’s competitiveness within its industry and expertly navigating the challenging economic climate of the late 2000s.

He attended the University of Maryland at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, first earning a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business at the R.H. Smith School of Business before obtaining his MBA in Consulting, Strategy and Finance Concentration. His academic excellence saw him named to the Dean’s List for three consecutive years, while also being awarded the Outstanding Student Achievement Award for International Business. Jean-Marc McLean’s academic pursuits have continued alongside his career as he has achieved further certification to bolster his professional skillset. This includes a certificate in Psychology from the University of Yale, as well as further independent diplomas in Private Equity and International Financial Reporting Standards. Furthermore, he has continued to study accountancy including the CAIA Level 1 exam. At present, he is also a member of the British Chamber of Commerce Luxembourg as well as the US Chamber of Commerce Luxembourg.

Beyond his professional achievements and commitments, Jean-Marc McLean has a variety of different hobbies. For example, he is an avid fan of football, cricket and cycling. His commitment to sport is evident through his coaching efforts, managing the LYSA youth teams for a decade until 2010, before guiding the FC Mondercange Cadets and Juniors to a league title in 2015. He has also continued to maintain his membership to the Queen’s Park Cricket Club in Trinidad & Tobago. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking and travelling. On top of his English native tongue, he can speak French at an intermediate level and he is also studying Luxembourgish.
