David Messer

Director - Climate Smart Buildings Alliance at EllisDon Corporation

David Messer is an experienced leader in public affairs and smart city initiatives. Currently serving as Director of the Climate Smart Buildings Alliance at EllisDon since September 2022, David is focused on driving Canada's transition to a net-zero buildings sector through collaboration with key stakeholders. Previously, David held several roles at the City of Guelph, culminating as Executive Director of the Smart Cities Office, and worked as Vice President of Public Affairs at Edelman and Vice President of Policy at the Information Technology Association of Canada. David's government experience includes strategic roles in the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, and as a Senior Intergovernmental Officer for the Government of Alberta, where intergovernmental relations with North Asia were a primary focus. David holds a Master’s Degree in History from Queen's University and a Bachelor's Degree in History and Drama from the same institution.
