Mark Gates

Mark Gates has a diverse background in various industries and roles. Their most recent position is as the Lead Cloud Application Administrator at Ellucian since October 2021. Prior to that, they worked at The University of Georgia from December 2014 to October 2021, where they held the role of Application Programmer Specialist and also served as an Application Programmer Analyst. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing Ellucian Degree Works planning/tracking software for advisers and students, developing work requests and data integrations using Java/XML, and coordinating patches and updates with various stakeholders.

Before their time at The University of Georgia, Mark worked at DHL Supply Chain from August 2012 to May 2014 as an Operations Systems Manager/WMS Coordinator, where they administered computer systems for a large distribution center and optimized inventory flow using Red Prairie WMS. Prior to that, they worked at SAIC as an ITS Service Desk Associate from September 2011 to August 2012.

Mark also has experience in academia, having worked as a Temporary Full-Time Professor at East Tennessee State University from August 2008 to May 2009, and as a Graduate Assistant from August 2006 to May 2008. Mark began their professional career as a Planning & Analysis Intern at Pilot Flying J in May 2005.

Mark Gates earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Sciences, General from East Tennessee State University from 2001 to 2006. Mark later pursued a Master of Science degree in Information Technology at the same university from 2006 to 2008.
