Nikhil Pooviah has a diverse work experience. In 2009, they started their career at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital as a Resident Medical Officer and later became a Radiation Oncology Registrar. In 2014, they joined Chris O'Brien Lifehouse as a Radiation Oncology Physician until 2016. In 2015, they co-founded CancerAid and in 2019, they co-founded Elly. In 2021, they became a Venture Partner at Black Nova Venture Capital, and in 2023, they joined Moffitt Cancer Center as a Digital Innovation Strategy Manager.

Nikhil Pooviah attended James Ruse Agricultural High School from 1999 to 2004, where they obtained their high school degree. From 2005 to 2009, they studied at the University of Melbourne, earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree. Additionally, in 2007 and 2008, they pursued a Bachelor of Medical Science degree at the University of Melbourne. The field of study for these degrees is not specified.
