Tonja Killingham

Tonja Killingham is an experienced educator and administrator with a diverse background in teaching and student support services. Currently serving as Dean of Students at Elmhurst District 205 Public Schools since August 2020, Tonja previously taught English at Community Unit School District 308 and served as an Academic Support Advisor at Loyola University Chicago, where assistance was provided to medical students. Earlier roles include Learning Center Coordinator at Rasmussen College, English/History Teacher at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District #202, and English Language Arts Teacher Consultant at Kent Intermediate School District. Tonja began the teaching career at Grand Rapids Public Schools. Tonja holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a focus on English and History from Western Michigan University. Additionally, Tonja is currently pursuing further education at CourseCareers.

Elmhurst District 205 Public Schools

Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 currently serves more than 8,000 students who reside primarily in the City of Elmhurst and small portions of Oak Brook, Bensenville and Addison. Approximately 90 percent of students live in Elmhurst with the remainder living outside of the City, but within the District 205 boundaries. (District boundaries are NOT contiguous with City boundaries.) At present, District 205 maintains fourteen schools (eight elementary schools, three middle schools, York Community High School, a Transition Program and the Madison Early Childhood Education Center).
