Thomas Nguyen

Research Associate at Elo Life Systems

Thomas Nguyen has a diverse work experience in the field of research and science. Thomas began their career as a Research Assistant at North Carolina State University in 2015, where they performed various tasks such as PCR and gel electrophoresis to genotype plant samples, as well as RNA extraction and qPCR to measure DNA abundance. Thomas also gained experience in seed collection, sterilization, and plating. In 2018, Thomas served as a Guest Speaker for an Undergraduate Research Panel at the university, sharing their knowledge and experiences with undergraduate students. Thomas also participated in the NC State University Annual Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium in the same year.

In 2019, Thomas attended the Plant Science Workshop at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, where they engaged in lectures and lab sessions on topics such as genomics, cell biology, metabolomics, and genome editing. Thomas gained a better understanding of plants' growth in extreme environmental conditions.

From 2016 to 2019, Thomas worked at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in an exhibition focusing on Genetic Circuits and Electric Circuits.

More recently, in 2021, Thomas served as a Graduate Research Assistant at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) until December 2021. Currently, Thomas is working as a Research Associate at Elo Life Systems, starting in June 2022.

Thomas Nguyen has a diverse education history. From 2014 to 2018, they attended North Carolina State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General. During their time at North Carolina State University, they also pursued a minor in Plant Biology. Additionally, Thomas has obtained several certifications, including a Certificate of Achievement for being on the Dean's List in 2015 and a Professional Development Certificate for completing the 2017 Professional LAUNCH Series. In 2020, they enrolled in the KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) and completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Plant Biology in 2021. Prior to commencing their master's program, Thomas was also awarded the KAUST Fellowship, which they received in September 2019. Thomas further participated in the 2019 Plant Science Workshop and obtained a Certificate of Completion for their participation.
