Jessica Merricks

Jessica Merricks is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Elon University since July 2018. Prior to this role, Jessica Merricks worked as a Science Teacher at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences for one year and as a Lecturer at Armstrong State University. Additional experience includes positions as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Johnson County Community College and as an Adjunct Professor at Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City. Jessica Merricks also conducted graduate research as a Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Missouri, focusing on the evolution of acoustic communication in treefrogs. A National Science Foundation Graduate STEM Fellow in K12 Education, Jessica taught science at a local elementary school. Educational credentials include a PhD in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology and Psychology from Tulane University.
