Elpitiya Plantations
Dr. Rohan Fernando was appointed to the Board of Elpitiya Plantations PLC on August 01, 1997 and as Managing Director on May 14, 2004. He is the Managing Director of Aitken Spence Plantation Managements PLC and an Executive Director of Aitken Spence PLC.
Dr. Fernando, is currently responsible for the Plantations segment and Business Development of the Aitken Spence Group covering sustainability and branding. Dr. Fernando has extensive experience in the plantation industry both in the public and private sectors, corporate management, corporate strategy and played a key role in the plantations privatisation programme.
He was the Chairman of United Nations Global Compact Network. Sri Lanka, a former President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Chapter and is also a Member of the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Business of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT).
He holds a PhD and a MBA from the University of Colombo and is also a Chartered Marketer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK.

Elpitiya Plantations PLC is engaged in cultivation, manufacture and sale of black tea, rubber, oil palm and others crops. The Company's operating segments include Tea, Rubber, Oil Palm and Others. Its operations include forestry development, eco-tourism, hydro power development and specialty-tea manufacturing. The Company operates tea branding called Harrow Ceylon Choice, which is available in various types of varieties. The Company's projects include Dunsinane Power Project, Sheen Mini-Hydropower Project and Dunsinane Cottage MHPP. The Company operates various bungalows, which include Harrow Guest Bangalow, Meddacombra Guest Bangalow and Galinda Guest Bangalow. The Company has approximately 10 estates located in up, mid and low country agro climatic regions, which cover over 8, 800 hectares. The Company's tea products include EARL GRAY FLAVOURED TEA, NAYAPANE PREMIUM, NAYAPANE SPECIAL, NAYAPANE SUPREME and TEA PRESENTATION BOX.
