Christoph W. Frei

Christoph W. Frei is a Partner at Emerald Technology Ventures since January 2020 and serves as a Board Member for Colibri Energy Lithium Batteries. Christoph holds the position of Adjunct Professor at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) and has been involved since 2006 as an Advisor to the President and a member of the Energy Centre Directorate, where Christoph instigated the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels. Previously, Christoph was a Foundation Council Member for the Energy Web Foundation from 2017 to 2023 and served as Secretary General & CEO of the World Energy Council from 2009 to 2019, contributing to significant projects such as the World Energy Scenarios and the World Energy Trilemma. Christoph's earlier experience includes a role as Senior Director at the World Economic Forum from 2001 to 2009, where Christoph initiated the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative. Educational accomplishments include a PhD in Energy scenarios modelling & analysis from EPFL, a European Master in Applied Ethics from the University of Zurich, a DES in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from the University of Geneva, and a Dipl. El. Ing. in Energy from ETH Zürich.
