EMERGE
Gabriela Perez is a dedicated professional with a diverse background in leadership, mentorship, and research. Currently serving as a Tufts FIRST Peer Leader at Tufts University, Gabriela focuses on supporting First Generation and Low-Income students through mentorship and event planning. As a Fellow at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation's Latinx On Fast Track Leadership Institute, Gabriela was selected from nearly 30,000 applicants to engage in a rigorous curriculum centered on leadership and social impact. Experience as a CPRTP Summer Intern at MD Anderson Cancer Center involved conducting behavioral science research and presenting findings. Gabriela has also held roles as a High School Mentor at Momentum Education, Co Research Coordinator at the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development, Teaching Fellow at Breakthrough Collaborative, and Elections Ambassador for Mi Familia Vota. Gabriela is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biopsychology at Tufts University, building on an Associate of Science from Houston Community College and a High School Diploma from North Houston Early College High School.

EMERGE
High-achieving students from low-income backgrounds often face significant barriers when it comes to accessing the nation’s top colleges. EMERGE partners with local school districts to help these students ignite their potential and gain access to top colleges that offer generous financial aid. EMERGE students graduate at eight times the national average for students in their demographic, frequently with minimal debt. Even more, they learn to maximize their unique strengths and talents and embrace their identities to become influential leaders in their own lives and communities.
