EMERGE
Carlos Ochoa is an experienced program manager and educator with a diverse background in teaching and leadership. At EMERGE, Carlos served as Program Manager from August 2022 to July 2024. Prior to this role, Carlos taught Algebra I and Geometry at Memphis-Shelby County Schools and contributed as the Founding Varsity Soccer Coach from July 2020 to July 2022. Carlos also worked with Teach For America as a Mathematics Teacher and taught 7th Grade Math and Computer Science at Breakthrough Houston. In addition to teaching, Carlos held various positions in the Rice Marching Owl Band, including Drum Major and Events Coordinator. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a Mathematics minor from Rice University and is currently pursuing an MBA at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, expected to complete in 2026.

EMERGE offers a student-to-college counselor ratio of 60:1 allowing staff members to work closely with students and their families to ensure success. EMERGE is an innovator among college access organizations nationwide and partners with selective schools that yield higher than average graduation rates and provides substantial financial aid for first-generation students from low-income communities. EMERGE scholars earn college degrees at 10x the national average for students from low-income, under-resourced communities.
