EMERGE
Janet Nieto has a diverse work experience that spans various organizations and roles. Janet most recently worked at EMERGE Fellowship as the Director of Student Recruitment, where they were responsible for leading the recruitment of students. Prior to that, they served as the Lead Program Manager at the same organization. Before joining EMERGE Fellowship, Janet worked as the Klein ISD Program Manager. Janet also gained experience as a Program Coordinator at Genesys Works.
Janet's work experience also includes roles in various capacities at Tufts University. Janet served as a Health Communications Intern at the Department of Health Prevention and Promotion and as an Office Assistant at the Science and Engineering Complex and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Additionally, they worked as a Student Researcher at Tufts University Community Health Department.
Janet's experience extends beyond their university and non-profit work. Janet served as the Co-President of Nu Chapter at Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., where they oversaw various responsibilities including organizing events, advocating for funding, and implementing recruitment strategies. Janet also had internships at the Alzheimer's Association, Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter, Rice University, and Asociación Parkinson Madrid, where they gained valuable experience in public policy, advising, and administrative tasks.
In terms of international experience, Janet worked as an English Conversation Teacher at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and as an Instagrammer at Tufts-Skidmore Spain. These roles provided their with cross-cultural and language skills.

Janet Nieto completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Community Health, Spanish, and Latino Studies at Tufts University from 2014 to 2018. In 2016, they participated in a study abroad program at Tufts-Skidmore Spain. Additionally, in 2015, they also took part in another study abroad program at Tufts University European Center, Talloires, France. Janet has obtained certifications in the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) in February 2017 and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in May 2011.

EMERGE offers a student-to-college counselor ratio of 60:1 allowing staff members to work closely with students and their families to ensure success. EMERGE is an innovator among college access organizations nationwide and partners with selective schools that yield higher than average graduation rates and provides substantial financial aid for first-generation students from low-income communities. EMERGE scholars earn college degrees at 10x the national average for students from low-income, under-resourced communities.
