Dr. Throop is a 1993 graduate from The University of Michigan and a 1998 graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at The University of Virginia and served as Chief Resident in his final year. Joining ECS in 2001, Dr. Throop was involved early on in physician leadership with service on the Board of Directors of ECS, Medical Management Specialists, and the Michigan Professional Insurance Exchange. He furthered his education with completion of a Master of Business Administration with a Healthcare focus from The George Washington University in 2017. Dr. Throop currently serves as the President of ECS, Vice Chair of the Michigan Professional Insurance Exchange, and Board Member of a number of healthcare organizations. He is a multi-time Ironman Triathlon finisher, enjoys camping, hiking, collecting medical antiques, and watching his daughters perform ballet and jump horses.
