Erman Bastopcu

Erman Bastopcu has extensive experience in the aerospace industry, with a focus on system architecture and engineering. Erman is currently employed as a Sr Staff Systems Architect at Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, CA, a position they have held since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Sr Staff Engineer at Emergent Space Technologies, Inc. starting in February 2018.

Their earlier career includes working as a Technical Manager at Space Systems Loral from October 1989 to August 2017. During their time at SS/L, they worked on various satellite programs, including Yamal 200, Chinasat 8, M2A, Intelsat 900, Spainsat, XTAR, Sirius 5, Sirius 6, T14R, Nimiq 6, Anik G1, Thor 7, JCSAT 14, and Hispasat 1F. Notably, they played a significant role in the design of the Sirius 5 and 6 radio satellites, which involved combining multiple S-Band TWTAs to generate a high-powered RF input.

Erman's career began at Aydin Microwave, where they worked as a Project Manager from January 1981 to October 1989.
