Based in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Emeritus is a professional residential and commercial design firm addressing the individual needs of owners through comprehensive design services.

Drawing on many modes of architectural design ranging from the Renaissance to Early Shaker to the Post Modernists of the 20th Century, Emeritus implements progressive design concepts that balance symmetrical interior planning with traditional New England details.

Analyzing cultures throughout Western and Eastern Europe, South America and Asia, we’ve had the opportunity to identify the common denominators of quality living. A space must provide shelter from the elements and function properly, but equally important it must reflect the lifestyle of its occupants in a manner sympathetic to daily habitation and occupation. We believe a space, if properly planned and executed, can increase the quality of living.

At Emeritus, we realize the critical role of professional builders and the understanding of construction techniques. We distinguish ourselves as a design company that recognizes the importance of builder support to efficiently produce a high-quality project.

Architecture and design are highly personal disciplines requiring elevated skill sets to execute. Yet the most important role we play in planning a new project is as graphic interpreter. In simpler terms – it’s your project, your goal, use our experience to help you realize that vision.
