Stefan Hrabar

Stefan Hrabar has a distinguished career in the field of robotics and drone technology. Stefan started their professional journey in 2006 as a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO, where they worked on developing vision and Lidar-based perception systems for autonomous helicopters. During their time at CSIRO, Stefan also served as a Research Team Leader and Principal Research Scientist, leading a team of researchers focused on robot perception, planning, and control for ground, aerial, and underwater robots. Stefan played a crucial role in the development of the Hovermap technology, a drone autonomy and Lidar mapping payload. In 2016, Stefan represented CSIRO and Australia in the International Forum for Aviation Research (IFAR), where they presented Australia's perspective on drone-related research. Currently, Stefan serves as the CEO and Co-founder of Emesent since 2018. In their role, they lead an exceptional team working on automated data collection and analysis in underground mining environments. Throughout their career, Stefan has demonstrated a passion for solving challenging industry problems and has continuously pushed the boundaries of drone technology.

Stefan Hrabar completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town from 1993 to 1996. Following this, they pursued a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering at the same institution, from 2000 to 2001. Afterwards, they furthered their education and earned a PhD in Computer Science (Robotics) from the University of Southern California, attending from 2001 to 2006.
