Tom Wood

Tom Wood has a diverse work experience spanning multiple sectors and roles. Tom is currently the Head of Carbon Management at Emitwise since April 2023 and was previously the Carbon Accounting Lead at the same company from June 2021 to April 2023. Prior to that, they served as an Associate Sustainability and Climate Change Consultant at WSP in the UK from June 2014 to June 2021. Tom also had their own consultancy, Thomas Wood Consulting, from May 2012 to February 2014. Before that, they worked at Atkins as a Senior Consultant from October 2009 to March 2012, Consultant from April 2007 to September 2009, and Assistant Consultant from October 2005 to April 2007. Tom was also seconded to Defra for six months in 2009 as a Water and Environmental Specialist. Tom started their career as an Energy Policy Analyst at the Sustainable Development Commission in 2008 and worked as a Study Coordinator at Covance Laboratories from August 2002 to July 2004. Additionally, they are a Member of the Board of Trustees at a nursery since September 2021.

Tom Wood completed their education at two different institutions. From 1999 to 2002, they attended the University of York, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology, specializing in Applied Ecology and Environmental Management. Later, in 2004 and 2005, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London.

In addition to their formal education, Tom Wood has obtained several certifications. In 2010, they became a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) through the Society for the Environment. During the same year, they also achieved the title of Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (C.WEM) through CIWEM (The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management). In 2014, they became an Affiliate Member of IEMA, and most recently, in March 2021, they became a Member of ICRS | The Institute of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability.
