Derek Spransy

Derek Spransy has extensive experience in information security, holding key roles at Emory University since August 2003, including Interim Chief Information Security Officer, Director of Enterprise Information Security, and Associate Director in both IT Risk & Compliance and Cyber Defense. At Emory, Derek leads a team of 24 cybersecurity professionals, managing a multi-million dollar budget and overseeing various security functions including threat management and incident response. Previous roles involved significant responsibilities in day-to-day security monitoring, incident response, and developing security policies. Derek began a career in technology support at Orange County Schools and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Networking from Regis University.
