Senior Scientist – Translational Genetics at Empirico Inc.

Madeline Luth, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of genetics and bioinformatics. Madeline is currently a Senior Scientist at Empirico Inc., specializing in translational genetics. Prior to this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at UC San Diego, where they mentored junior bioinformaticians and wet lab scientists and managed a multi-PI NIH R01 grant. Madeline also served as a Graduate Student Researcher, participating in target identification and drug resistance assessments for the antimalarial drug development portfolio. Madeline was a laboratory manager at UCSD, overseeing compliance with safety regulations and coordinating equipment maintenance. Additionally, they worked as a Teaching Assistant for a genetics course at UCSD. Earlier in their career, they gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Riverside, where they investigated attachment and detachment kinetics of E. coli on spinach leaves and studied biochar as a carrier for plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria. Madeline's work has resulted in co-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals and they have completed a University Honors capstone/thesis.

Madeline obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from UC San Diego, specializing in Biomedical Sciences, General. Madeline'sdoctoral studies took place between the years 2016 and 2022. Before pursuing their PhD, Madeline completed their undergraduate education at the University of California, Riverside. There, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Microbiology, General, from 2012 to 2016.
