April Yip

Program Assistant, East and Southeast Asia at EMpower

April is the East/South East Asia Program Assistant at EMpower. She supports grants management, monitoring of programs and reporting. She also assists in organizing Board meetings and drafting program related documents for the Grants Committee.

Prior to joining EMpower, April was a Program Mentor at Teach Unlimited Foundation in Hong Kong. She stationed full time in a partner school, to serve underprivileged students’ developmental needs (learning attitude, learning motivation and self-esteem) through providing dynamic learning experience and individual mentoring. She facilitated 3-tier activities for over 200 students (aged 13-18) in 4 grades over 2 years, and accompanied these students in their self-development journey, including developing and providing one-on-one structured mentoring to 20 students.

In addition to youth development, April is passionate about environmental conservation. Her experience includes conducting ecological surveys for World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and community resource research for the Kadoorie Institute and the University of Hong Kong, as well as environmental educational activities for the public at the Hong Kong Wetland Park and for the children in Kyiv, Ukraine as an intern at AIESEC (global youth-led organization).

April obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Applied Biology Environmental Science from Hong Kong Baptist University.
