Valerie Taly

Co-founder & Scientific Advisor at Emulseo

Valerie Taly has diverse work experience spanning different roles and companies. Valerie is currently the CSO and co-founder of METHYS DX, a position they have held since September 2021. Prior to this, Valerie worked at CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique from 2015 to present, holding the positions of Research Director First Class (DR1) and Research Director 2nd Class (DR2). Valerie was also the Deputy Director of the MEPPOT Team and Group Leader of the TRAM group at CNRS, Centre de recherche des Cordeliers (UMRS1138), Université de Paris from January 2019 onwards.

In 2018, Valerie founded Emulseo and served as its Scientific Advisor. Valerie has also worked as a Teacher and Coordinator of the Biology program at the Center for Sciences and Interdisciplinarity - Frontiers in Life Science Bachelor Program since January 2011.

Valerie has held various positions at Univ. Paris Descartes, INSERM UMRS1147, CNRS SNC 5014, including Group Leader, CNRS Research Director (DR), and Co-Director of the eDIAG platform, from October 2015 to December 2018. Valerie was previously a Group Leader at UMRS 1147 (Personalized Medicine, Pharmacogenomics, Therapeutic Optimization), Univ. Paris Descartes from 2011 to September 2015.

Earlier in their career, Valerie worked as a Research Scientist (CR, CNRS) at ISIS, Université de Strasbourg from November 2006 to 2011. Valerie also served as a Research Associate at the Medical Research Council from October 2003 to November 2006, where they focused on high-throughput screening in microdroplets and the directed evolution of biocatalysts for biofuel cells.

Valerie's career began as a PhD student at CNRS from October 1999 to October 2003, where their research involved directed evolution of cytochrome P450, combinatorial library enhanced by recombination in yeast, and DNA microarray analysis of combinatorial libraries.

Valerie Taly's education history begins in 1993 when they attended Université de Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens. During their time there, they earned a DEUG degree in Physics in 1995. Valerie continued their education at the same university and obtained another DEUG degree, this time in Life Sciences, from 1995 to 1996. Valerie then pursued a Licence/Maitrise (Bachelor/master 1) in Cellular Biology and Physiology at Université de Picardie Jules Verne, completing it from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, they attended Université Paris Cité for a DEA in Molecular Toxicology. Following this, from 1999 to 2003, they studied at CNRS and received a PhD in Molecular Toxicology/Biotechnology. Lastly, in 2008, they briefly attended University of Strasbourg and obtained a Habilitation to direct Research in the field of Protein directed evolution: from creation of genetic diversity to analysis within microreactors.
