Shivant Maharaj

Shivant Maharaj has a diverse range of work experience. In 2017, they worked as a Student Representative at the University of Cape Town, where they represented various classes and acted as a liaison between students and faculty. Shivant also held the position of Head Systems Development I Tutor and HOCIP Representative during their time there.

In 2020, Shivant volunteered as a Coding Teacher at Africa Youth Ignited 4IR, a non-profit organization focused on equipping South African youth with coding and programming skills.

Shivant then joined BDO South Africa in 2021 as a Junior Analyst, where they developed a recalculation model and conducted technology audits. Shivant later became a Data Scientist at BDO, working with multinational lenders on IFRS9 Challenger Models.

In 2023, Shivant had a role as a LondonLAB Student Consultant at Invest Africa Ltd. There, they developed an ESG-focused index and created a visualization tool using PowerBI. Shivant collaborated with a team of Master's students to provide recommendations for monetization strategies for the Invest Africa Index.

Currently, Shivant is employed as a Data Operations Associate at Encord, starting from 2023.

Shivant Maharaj's education history starts with their completion of the Independent Examinations Board National Senior Certificate at Clifton School from 2003 to 2015. Shivant then pursued a degree in Business Science, specializing in Information Systems, at the University of Cape Town from 2016 to 2020. Following this, Shivant enrolled at the London Business School in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Masters in Analytics and Management.

In addition to their formal education, Shivant obtained certifications to enhance their skills. In 2018, they became an AWS Academy Graduate by completing the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations program through Amazon Web Services (AWS). In 2021, they completed several courses offered by Galvanize, including "Foundations of ACL: Concepts and Practices," "Advanced ACL Concepts and Techniques: Functions," "Advanced ACL Concepts and Techniques: Scripting," and "Advanced ACL Concepts and Techniques: Advanced Scripting and Advanced Functions." Further, Shivant obtained certifications in Python and R through DataCamp, including "Introduction to Python," "Intermediate Python," "Introduction to R," and "Introduction to the Tidyverse."
