Chris Clement, PhD, has extensive work experience in the field of clean energy and sustainability. Chris currently serves as the CFO & CIO at Encore Renewable Energy, where they focus on developing commercial, industrial, and community-scale solar PV systems. Prior to this role, they were the Managing Partner & Founder of Deep Impact Capital, an investment banking firm specializing in impact enterprises related to climate, energy, forestry, and food.
Chris has also held positions at Yale University, where they served as an Alumnus Expert in Residence at the Center for Business and Environment, as well as at IronOak Energy Capital, where they were a Managing Partner & Co-Founder. Chris has also been an Advisory Board Member at Institutional Real Estate, Inc., and a Doctoral Fellow at the Gund Institute at UVM and Sandia National Laboratories. Additionally, Chris worked as a Doctoral Researcher at the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security (CCAFS).

Chris Clement, PhD has an extensive education history. Chris received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Ecological Economics (Renewable Energy) from the University of Vermont, graduating in 2016. Prior to that, Chris completed a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a focus on Economics and Finance from the Yale School of Management, where they studied from 2005 to 2008. During the same period, they also obtained a Master of Environmental Management (M.E.M.) degree from the Yale School of the Environment, specializing in Energy and the Environment.
Before pursuing their graduate degrees, Chris earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Science with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they completed in 2002. Chris began their academic journey at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in 1996.
