Mel Pryor

Mel Pryor is senior vice president, actuarial and analytics at Encova, where she leads teams with pricing, reserving, statistical reporting, analytics (business intelligence and predictive modeling) and economic capital modeling responsibilities. Her teams provide tools and insights to enhance decision making and strategy throughout the organization.

Mel has been with Encova for nine years with previous insurance industry experience at Nationwide and Royal & SunAlliance. She holds a Bachelor of Science in actuarial science from University of Central Missouri and a master’s degree in behavioral economics from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Mel is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). She also holds the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation.

Mel is a founding member and one of the leaders of Making HerStory, the women’s associate-led resource group at Encova.
