Bob Smouse

Bob Smouse, MD, is a seasoned medical professional with extensive leadership experience in the medical device and healthcare sectors. Currently serving as Interim CEO, President, and Board Director at Respiratory Motion, Inc. since April 2020, Smouse played a pivotal role in transforming the company for commercialization, leading to its sale in July 2022. As the CEO, Founder, and Chairman of the Board at BrightWater Medical from January 2014 to June 2019, Smouse developed innovative solutions for severe biliary and urinary blockages, culminating in a successful acquisition by Merit Medical. Additionally, Smouse has held advisory positions at multiple companies, including Endotronix, Inc. and Cook Medical, providing strategic guidance on medical device development. With a background in minimally invasive imaging guided surgery as a Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois and experience founding elGCO Medical Incubator, Smouse has consistently contributed to advancing healthcare technologies. Smouse holds an MD from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Florida.
