Babak Naffas

Babak Naffas has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Babak is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Endpoint since December 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Fandango from 2012 to 2020, where they held multiple roles including Architect, Staff Engineer, and Senior Software Engineer. In their roles at Fandango, Babak was responsible for designing and implementing scalable APIs to handle increasing traffic, as well as handling sudden spikes in traffic for major movie premieres and pre-sales.

Before joining Fandango, Babak worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Cooking.com in 2012. At Cooking.com, they were responsible for making architectural decisions, performing code reviews, optimizing performance, and maintaining and updating legacy projects.

From 2008 to 2012, Babak worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Lieberman Research Worldwide. During this time, they provided internal and external-facing solutions for data reporting, process management, and data collection for market research. Babak also created new methods of data collection using jQuery and jQueryUI.

Prior to that, Babak worked as a Software Engineer and Consultant at IT Strategists, Inc. from 2006 to 2008. Here, they worked on web applications using .NET 2. Babak also owned an IT consulting company called NK Solutions from 2004 to 2007, where they developed custom software for clients. Additionally, Babak worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Lantronix in 2004, where they tested network hardware and updated the test engine.

Babak's earlier experiences include working as a Resident Programmer & Undergraduate Researcher at Beckman Laser Institute from 2001 to 2004, where they developed a graphical user interface using MATLAB. Babak also served as a Team Lead and Game Developer at WARPG from 2002 to 2004, where they played a key role in designing, implementing, and testing game projects.

Babak Naffas completed their undergraduate education at UC Irvine from 1999 to 2004, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Information and Computer Science. Babak then pursued further studies at Loyola Marymount University from 2004 to 2006, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.

In terms of certifications, Babak Naffas acquired various credentials related to web application security, specifically focusing on the OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) Top 10 vulnerabilities. In August 2020, they completed the "Learning the OWASP Top 10" course through LinkedIn. The following month, in September 2020, they obtained certifications for specific OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities such as Injection, Broken Authentication, Sensitive Data Exposure, External Entities (XXE), Broken Access Control, Security Misconfiguration, XSS, Insecure Deserialization, Components with Known Vulnerabilities, and Insufficient Logging and Monitoring. These certifications were also obtained through LinkedIn.
