Soumendra Basu

Soumendra Basu is an experienced researcher in composite materials, with a focus on sheet molded composites and short/long fiber composites reinforced with glass and carbon fiber. Soumendra has also investigated the effects of thermal transients in plant ovens on paint pinholing defects of powder coated Sheet Molding Compound parts, and has developed stereology-based techniques for quantifying the degree of clay exfoliation and nanostructure from TEM micrographs of polymer-clay nanocomposites.

Soumendra Basu has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
