Fred Jekel has a diverse work experience in the fields of compliance, security, and cybersecurity. Fred is currently serving as the Head of Compliance & Security at Eneco, a position they have held since October 2023. Prior to this, Fred was the Chairman of the Dutch Financial Institutions - Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FI-ISAC.NL) from October 2022 to October 2023. Fred also worked as the Executive Director of Cyber Security at Van Lanschot Kempen from January 2020 to October 2023. Before that, they held various roles at Van Lanschot, including Manager of IT Security, Quality & Control from July 2013 to December 2019, and Audit Manager from April 2008 to June 2013. Fred's earlier work experience includes working as an Assistant Audit Manager at Fortis from April 2002 to April 2008, and as a Manager at Ernst & Young EDP Audit from 1997 to 2002. Fred began their career as an iSeries Application Developer at Silvac in 1995 and also served as a Blauwhelm in the Koninklijke Landmacht.
Fred Jekel has an extensive education history. Fred completed their Modular Executive MBA in Business & IT at Nyenrode Business University from 2013 to 2019. Prior to that, they attended Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) from 1997 to 2000, where they obtained a degree in IT Audit. Fred also attended the University of Twente from 1988 to 1994, earning a degree in Industrial Engineering & Management. Fred also has additional certifications including Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from IIA-The Institute of Internal Auditors in 2013, Prince 2 Practitioner in 2007, and ICBRR (International Certificate in Banking Risk & Regulation - training only) from GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals) in 2011. Fred has a certification as a Scrum@Scale Practitioner from Scrum Inc. obtained in April 2021. Fred also holds the title of Register IT-auditor (RE) from NOREA, de beroepsorganisatie van IT-auditors.
