Kal Pasupathy has a wealth of work experience in the field of biomedical and health information sciences. Kal has held positions in the University of Illinois Chicago since 2021, where they are currently the Department Head and Professor of Biomedical & Health Information Sciences. In 2021, they also began working as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) for Energesse. From 2013 to 2021, they were the Scientific Director, Information & Decision Eng Prog; Assoc. Professor, Health Sciences Research at Mayo Clinic. From 2012 to 2013, they were the Sr. Research Scientist at Aurora Health Care. From 2006 to 2012, they were the Assistant Professor, Health Management & Informatics, School of Medicine at the University of Missouri Health System. From 2003 to 2006, they were the Interim Manager, Senior Associate - Strategic & Operations Research & Analysis at the American Red Cross. From 1999 to 2003, they were the Research Associate, Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech. In this role, they researched performance measurement systems for organizations, developed models to evaluate financial efficiency, service quality and outcome effectiveness, and programmed optimization models for research.
Kal Pasupathy obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Production Engineering from Bharathiar University.
