Senior Principal Firmware Engineer / Manager at Energous

Howard Chan has extensive experience in firmware engineering, with roles at various companies throughout their career. Howard began their career at Mitsubishi Electronics as an Applications Engineer from 1997 to 1999. Howard then worked as a Senior FW Engineer at Repeater Technologies in 1999 for a year. From 1999 to 2002, they served as a Staff Firmware Engineer at Signia. At Destiny Networks, they worked as a Sr Firmware Engineer from 2003 to 2006. Howard also worked at Lexar Media as a Senior Firmware Engineer in 2006. At Marvell Networks, they were a Staff Firmware Engineer from 2006 to 2011, contributing to the development and production of several Wifi/BT chips. Howard then joined LSI Corporation, where they held the role of Principal Firmware Engineer from 2011 to 2014. At SandForce (acquired by LSI), they were a Principal Firmware Engineer, leading a team and working on the development of award-winning SSD controllers. Currently, they are employed at Energous Corporation. Howard started as a Senior Principal Software Engineer in 2014 and transitioned to the role of Senior Principal Firmware Engineer/Manager in 2018. In this position, they have been responsible for the architecture, management, and verification of SOC power controllers and the development of firmware and SDK frameworks for the Wattup wireless power platform.

Howard Chan received their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona from 1992 to 1996. Howard further pursued their education and obtained their Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from San Jose State University from 2005 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Howard Chan obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in November 2017.
