Gregory Phipps

Director at Energy New England

Gregory Phipps brings over 35 years of leadership experience as a corporate and entrepreneurial leader in dynamic and complex domestic and international markets (energy, materials, telecom, medical imaging, software licensing, and factory automation). He is recognized for decisive leadership, creative thinking, and detailed “hands-on, get it done” action, with contagious energy.

During the past 20 years, Greg applied his expertise of product management, marketing, strategy, and operations to solar PV, on-site generation systems, peak management, energy optimization, new retail programs (heat pump, EV’s, TOU rates), sustainability/green compliance, and wholesale power purchasing, for MLP’s and commercial / industrial customers.

Formerly RMLD’s Director of Integrated Resources Division, Greg is the General Manager of Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD). As the largest municipal light plant by load and revenue, RMLD serves a mix of industrial, commercial, residential, and municipal customers across four Boston suburbs (Wilmington, Reading, North Reading, and Lynnfield center), reliably supplying nearly 700,000 MWHs of mostly non-carbon energy each year via 31,500 meters, at very competitive rates. Greg recruited a new leadership team to transform RMLD into a new and innovative utility, implementing out-of-the-box solutions on behalf of its customers.

His leadership experience includes Atlumin Energy Inc (President, founder), Amirsys Inc (President, co-founder), Evans & Sutherland (Marketing Vice President), Stream International (Regional Operations Vice President), and the Boston Consulting Group. Greg earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with Distinction and MBA from Harvard Business School.
