Ken Kirkland has 10 years of experience in the composite engineering and design field. In 2007, they began their career as a Yacht Designer at Tripp Design/Naval Architecture. Ken then moved to Materials Sciences Corp. in 2008, where they worked as a Senior Designer in Naval, Army, and Aerospace research, FEA, prototyping, testing, engineering, and design. In 2010, they took on the role of Lead - Composite Prototype Engineer at Nastasi Architects, where they worked on architectural and structural composites for a custom staircase project. From 2012 to 2015, they were a Marine Design Engineer at Algae Systems, LLC, where they were involved in offshore Photo Bio-reactor design, innovation, engineering, prototyping, installation, operation, and production for Algae-to-Bio-fuel production. In 2015, they began working as a Composite Design Engineer at Cannondale, where they were responsible for carbon fiber frame design and engineering for mountain and E-Bike products. Ken then moved to Seriforge in 2017, where they worked as a Composite Design Engineer. In 2019, they took on the role of Senior Eng. Structures - Composite Development at Arris Composites, Inc. and, in 2020, they became an Aero Composite Engineer at Matternet Inc. Currently, Ken Kirkland is a Staff Composite Engineer at EnerVenue, where they began working in 2023.

Ken Kirkland received a BFA in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design in 1994. Ken then pursued a Masters of Engineering in Product-Architecture Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2007. In 2010, they returned to Stevens Institute of Technology to obtain a Masters of Engineering in Ocean Engineering/Naval Architecture, which they completed in 2012. In 2011, they attended Stanford University for a CE in Composites Design Workshop V.
