Rick McGeer

CEO and Co-Founder at engageLively

Rick McGeer has a long and successful career in the technology industry. Rick began their career in 1989 as a Professor at the University of British Columbia. In 1991, they became a Research Engineer at UC Berkeley, and in 1993 they co-founded Cadence Berkeley Labs. In 1998, they co-founded Softface and was its Chief Scientist. From 2003 to 2012, they were a Principal Scientist and Research Manager at Hewlett Packard Labs. During this time, they were also a Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services from 2012 to 2014. In 2013, they became Chief Scientist at US Ignite, and in 2014 they were a Principal Investigator at SAP. Most recently, in 2017, they became the CEO and Co-Founder of engageLively, Inc., which offers the Galileo platform, a hosted Jupyter environment with a built-in drag-and-drop dashboard editor based on Lively Web technology.

Rick McGeer completed a B. Sc. in Mathematics and Computing Science from Simon Fraser University between 1977 and 1980. Rick then completed an M. Math in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo between 1981 and 1982. Finally, they completed a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley between 1983 and 1989.
