Jim Viola has extensive experience in the field of education, currently serving as an Educational Consultant and Outside Education Expert at the New York State Education Department since November 2009. In addition, Jim Viola has been the Director of Government Relations for the School Administrators Association of New York State since August 2008, where responsibilities include representing the Association to various governmental bodies and developing position papers on educational issues. Previously, Jim Viola held several roles in the New York State Education Department, including Executive Director of Regional School Improvement and Community Services, where oversight of multiple offices and initiatives aimed at closing the achievement gap was key, and Regional Education Coordinator. Jim Viola holds two Master of Science degrees, one in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University at Albany and the other in Education/Special Education from The Sage Colleges.
