Gizachew Balew Jembere

Gizachew Balew Jembere has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Gizachew Balew began their career as the Head of Health Center at Alaba Health Center, where they managed routine and emergency clinical services, health promotion, disease prevention programs, reproductive health services, and the management of human and financial resources. Gizachew Balew then worked as a Student at the University of Gondar School of Public Health while also serving as the Midwifery Nursing Department Head at Hossana Health Science College.

Afterward, Gizachew joined AMREF Health Africa in Ethiopia as a Project Coordinator, where they were responsible for designing and developing implementation plans, coordinating and leading pilot projects, and monitoring their performance. Gizachew Balew later became a Project Manager at AMREF, where they continued their work of organizing and representing the organization in project implementation efforts.

Gizachew also served as an Area Manager at the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), where they managed various reproductive health and HIV/AIDS projects, liaised with stakeholders, managed human and financial resources, and developed communication strategies.

Gizachew Balew then joined EngenderHealth as a Regional Team Leader, where they provided leadership in reproductive health interventions, focusing on long-acting family planning services and safe abortion services. Gizachew Balew also worked as a Project Director at EngenderHealth, overseeing project activities.

Additionally, Gizachew worked at KOICA as a KOICA Project Advisor, providing guidance and support to the organization's projects managed by KoPHWA.

During their tenure at Seoul National University, Gizachew completed their Ph.D. in Public Health from the Graduate School of Public Health. Overall, Gizachew's work experience demonstrates their expertise in public health, project management, and leadership roles in various organizations.

Gizachew Balew Jembere completed their Ph.D. candidate in Public Health at Seoul National University from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a Master's degree in Public Health at the University of Gondar from 2006 to 2008. Gizachew Balew'seducation journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Public Health from Haramaya University, which they obtained from 1999 to 2003.
