Ian Portsmouth has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries. Ian currently serves as the Chief Content Officer at engineering.com since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Principal at M3 Advantage from January 2019.
Ian also held various roles at The Globe and Mail, including Corporate Strategic Solutions Manager (Contract) from March 2021 to December 2021, and Director, Report on Business Cannabis Professional (Contract) from August 2019 to April 2020.
From 2017 to 2018, Ian worked as the Managing Director of the Insurance Media Group at Newcom Business Media Inc. During their tenure, they successfully led the financial turnaround of the business, integrated an acquired competitor, and revamped Canadian Underwriter magazine.
Before that, Ian worked independently as a public speaker on Business management and Entrepreneurship from 2003 to 2017. Ian also served as the Group Publisher, Business and Personal Finance at Rogers Media from March 2014 to December 2016, overseeing Canadian Business, PROFIT, and MoneySense magazines.
Ian held several roles at PROFIT Magazine, including Editor-in-chief, Publisher, and Associate Publisher, from 2002 to 2013. Ian also worked as the Managing Editor and Associate Editor at PROFIT Magazine from 1999 to 2002 and 1997 to 1999, respectively.
Additionally, Ian has experience as the Host and Content Director for the BMO Business Coach Podcast from September 2006 to December 2012, and as the Host and Content Director/Editor for the Rogers Business Series from 2011 to June 2012.
Furthermore, Ian collaborated with John Wiley and Sons as a Co-Author for the book titled "Marketing Masters: The Best Ideas, Tips and Strategies from Canada's Savviest Marketeers" in April 1998.

Ian Portsmouth attended Leaside High School from 1981 to 1986, where they earned an Honours Diploma. Ian then went on to study at the University of Toronto from 1986 to 1993, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus in Philosophy. In 1994 and 1995, Ian Portsmouth attended Centennial College, where they earned a Certificate in Book & Magazine Publishing.
