Brian Hilburn

Brian Hilburn has a diverse work experience in the field of human factors research and development. Brian began their career in 1998 as the Department Head of Human Factors at NLR - Netherlands Aerospace Centre, where they played a key role in developing and implementing human factors strategies. In 2003, they became a Principal Consultant at the Center for Human Performance Research, where they provided expert consultation and guidance in the field. In 2011, they served as a Guest Researcher at Delft University of Technology, further expanding their knowledge and expertise. In 2018, they became a Visiting Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where they shared their knowledge with students and collaborated on research projects. In 2020, they joined EIT, Inc. as the VP of Research & Development, leading innovative initiatives in the field. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Principal Human Factors Expert at MITRE, where they continue to contribute their expertise in human factors research. Brian Hilburn's work experience demonstrates their strong background and commitment to advancing the field of human factors.

Brian Hilburn earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Experimental Psychology from The Catholic University of America in 1996. Prior to this, they obtained a Master's Degree in Human Factors Engineering from the same university in 1994. In 1984, Brian completed their Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Grinnell College. Brian'shigh school education was completed at Gonzaga College High School in 1979. Additionally, they hold certifications in pilot certificates and ratings, specifically for private and instrument, from the Federal Aviation Administration.
